| Rutin Description: Therapeutic Category: Decrease capillary fragility
Description: Rutin is a flavanoid obtained by extraction from the vegetable raw material, Dimorphandra mollis. It is produced as a very thin powder of greenish yellow color. In fact very small crystals with a needle form. To obtain anhidrous Rutin the material must be submettid for 12 hr to 110oC and 10mm Hg of pressure.
Anhidrous Rutin becomes brown at 125oC an becomes plastic at 185oC to 192oC. One gram of rutin dissolves in 8.000 to 10.000ml of water, 650ml of ethanol, 200ml of boiling water and around 60ml of boiling ethanol. It is freely soluble in Piridine and in alkaline solutions. Its insloluble in chloroform, ether and benzene.
